RAPnet is simple and intuitive to use and is a truly global product catering for all cultural and language differences. At the heart of RAPnet is an extensive risk assesment database accumulated over many years working in and with the Gas, Oil and Chemical Industries.
RAP’s unique icon and system configuration design provides you with:
Simplicity - only one permit for any work activity, select your icons to define the job
Clarity & Conformity - the definition and selection process avoids any potential uncertainties with compliance being a matter of routine
Usability - the risk assessment information is at your fingertips in any language when defining a task with all control or work issues being in one place
Auditability - Automatic log of user information with the focus being on Quality of the risk assessment.
Define the Job, define the Hazards.......Our core and widely used flagship product is RAPnet; a comprehensive and easy to use electronic risk assessment and Permit to Work System. Its unique icon based design ensures that all rules and controls are easily applied, and its wide range of configurations will adapt to any work flow – providing safe and cost efficient Control of Work.
The system
The system is built around a large configurable risk assessment knowledge base, incorporating hundreds of years of first hand job knowledge. This information is broken down into categories represented by icons, allowing for simple and speedy navigation.
Permit are built around this core, categorised by site area, and are tracked from the initial definition stage right through to permit issue and completion.
All actions taken by users within the system are carefully monitored and controlled.

What are the benefits?
RAPnet’s Risk Assessment Module enables the user to identify all hazards present in the workplace and put in place the necessary controls to mitigate the risk. The fully knowledge based system can be used in a qualitative or quantitative manner ensuring all hazards are reduced as low as resonably possible (ALARP).
All work acitivity is broken down into individual steps. Each of the steps has its own Risk Assessment.

RAPnet’s Isolation Module allows users to ensure that all energies associated with the equipment to be worked on have been completely removed. The system is comprehensive yet simple to use, accommodating all energy sources and equipment.
The system fully integrates with the RAPnet permitting process where isolation can be created as standalone items or associated with tasks and permits.
These procedures can then be templated for use with similar equipment, after suitable editing, and isolations can be stored away for future use.
All actions within the procedure are competence driven and require correct signature at relevant points.
What are the benefits?
Certain devices are able to read UHF RFID tags attached to equipment and retrieve related permits and/or current location. The RFID tag will be programmed to include an identification key that can be associated with a location and equipment attached.
All devices will read 1D and 2D codes on printed isolation tag labels to initiate an action such as signing for the isolation. This enables fast isolation tag identification. If GPS is included on a device the current location can be logged and location specific tasks can be quickly identified and acted upon.
SynchronisationAll mobile solutions will synchronise wirelessly with RAPnet Mobile servers.
RAPnet Permits can be taken into the field using specialised pc’s for issue at the work site.
Benefits include:
Once the workplace discussions have taken place and the local conditions assessment carried out, the Permit can be released. The Tablet PC is then taken back to the Permit Office where the new status can be uploaded and synchronised with all other work.
The control room operators see the active status in the field meaning both parties are in sync.
Features
The RAPnet Reporting Module allows the user to create and run reports using current and historical data derived from all Job, Task, Isolation and Personnel activity in RAPnet. For example, a report could be created showing all permits completed in an area over a given time period.
Alternatively, a report could also be created showing how many isolations were requested in a given area or on certain equipment.
Dashboards can also be set up allowing an instant view of key KPIs e.g. How many of today’s planned permits have been completed? Or How many Confined Space activities are currently ongoing. The dashboards can be set up to automatically refresh and multiple dashboards can be used in a slideshow format - ideal for displaying on display panels at various locations around the site.
The Routing Element can be applied at both the ‘application’ stage and at the approval stage i.e. once all risk assessment has been made, appropriate documents attached, initial concurrence achieved etc. The Routing Element can be completely configured to each client’s requirements.
DashboardsThe speed at which permits can be issued during turnarounds can have a large effect upon overall performance, with any delays in issuing impacting upon the time taken to get the job done. RAP’s upfront planning capability, its flexible rules and barcode controls greatly enhance this process giving potential for large savings.
Cost SavingsThe reduction in hold-ups is complemented by the smooth alignment of work processes, wth the Contractors, Planner and Operations personnel all working together in complete understanding. This can result in huge cost savings too, with one large (million manhour) Turnaround being reduced by nearly 10% equivalent to 3 days.
Bar and QR CodesThe use of Bar and QR Codes in turnarounds gives enhanced control, easier visibility of jobs and improved awareness, resulting in:
RAP can be configured to use plot plans/maps hosted by WMS (Web Map Service) servers. Most major GIS providers support WMS. WMS maps can have multiple layers which can be turned on/off by the end user, and different information can be displayed at different zoom levels.
Map features can have information embedded in them (such as equipment details) so that when the mouse is moved over them a tool tip or other information can be displayed.
Current Plot Plans start out as CAD files or Satellite Images and then the images generated from them are used in RAP.
What are the benefits? The UI module has been developed to cater for businesses with widely distributed asset bases and where a high degree of communication between consenting and affected parties is crucial. The module comprises:
Routing Element
GIS Capability
Remote Devices

The RAPnet Audit system allows users to construct audit types, allocate them to individuals to be carried out and record/report results individually and for collated data. All work activity is broken down into individual steps. Each of the steps has its own Risk Assessment.
The systemThe Audit system has been designed so that different types of audits can be created and stored. RAPnet’s unique icon system allows the allocation of audits to either work types (all conditions, activities and tools) or to specific people. In this manner, all of the maintenance workplace can be covered in a concise and complete manner.
What are the Benefits? With companies facing increasing complexities and levels of change, existing paper based systems are proving to be cumbersome and time consuming.
With a faster more technologically aware workplace, individuals have less and less time to spend on such processes. In addition, such systems are slow and people find great difficulty in establishing the exact status of the change.
This is where the RAPnet eMoC system can significantly help in streamlining and reducing time from the process whilst prompting, suggesting and recording every aspect of the change along the way.
The systemThe RAPnet eMoC system, will replace a paper based system by defining and governing the change process.
Whilst identifying the reason and significance of the change it will also suggest the likely involvement of associated personnel and requirement for local and site standards. In addition comments and suggestions made at any stage can be carried on through the process for action at the appropriate time. Documents can also be attached to augment this process.
The system will support the linking to key documents (HAZOP, SIL, etc.) at various stages, will produce full or short Management of Change reports and will also integrate with RAPnet in order to manage implementation of the change.
